Old Songs in the First Album of the Glee

Glee is a youth comedy-drama TV series which was first broadcasted in May, 2009. The show is about high school show choir. The same year the creators of the TV series released the first album which contains soundtracks from the first season of the show.

The fist soundtrack volume of the Glee was released on November, 2009. It includes such tracks as Taking Chances by Celine Dion, Maybe This Time by Liza Minnelli, Somebody to Love by Queen, etc. Frankly speaking, I did not watch the TV show and listened to the soundtracks. So, last week my friend decided that I had to rest from writing a term paper and watch that series and listen to the album. It is not that I really liked the TV show and the way people performed famous songs there. Perhaps, it happened so because I am not a fan of the Glee. Yes, the actors of the series sang the songs quite well. On the other hand, I think it is next to impossible to rehash famous songs of legendary singers and bands in such a way that the second variants could be better than the originals. The Glee soundtracks are not exceptions of this rule.

Nevertheless, some famous mainstream critics noted in their research paper writing on music that TV show singers performed famous songs better than contemporary pop stars. But still, while listening to the album I had a feeling that the songs are being performed by children but not mature and professional musicians.
