Year 2010 is rich in criminal thriller movies. Affleck’s The Town, John Luessenhop’s Takers and a few other movies of this genre have been presented to the audience. One of the promising premieres in the genre of thriller is The American directed by Anton Corbijn.

I came across the ad of this movie by chance. I just saw the poster in the cinema. The American has not been advertized much.
Online essay writing and editorial reviews gave diverse opinions of this movie. I decided to go and watch it myself. It tells about Jack (starring
George Clooney), a hitman that suddenly gets attacked. He successfully protects himself from the assassins sent for him and moves from Sweden where he lives to
Rome. To hide from the killers, he goes to a small mountain town under the guise of a photographer. There he talks with a local priest, assembles a special sniper rifle for his colleague Mathilde and tries to find out who has ordered him.
He also meets a prostitute named Clara. Jack and Clara make friends, and then their friendship turns into passion. He finds a pistol in Clara’s purse and begins to suspect her, but his rival is Mathilde. Before Jack kills Mathilde, she tells him who has ordered his murder. He kills that person and dies himself. What I liked in this movie was the action and the marvelous landscapes. The work of a killer is depicted so true to life that I could probably compose
academic paper writing about it.
