There is a $10 suggested donation to the Slow Food Education Committee. The Education Committee is teaching cooking classes to children in low income communities. Their FEAST (fresh, easy, affordable, sustainable, and tasty) cooking classes have been a huge success so far. The kids involved have been exposed to healthy fresh food that they can easily prepare at home. Low income families have less access to fresh produce and often processed food is more affordable. Fresh food is important for young developing bodies and brains. These classes give kids skills that they will be able to use their whole lives. The Education Committee is busy writing grants for future classes and programs. Each class costs $75-100 for supplies and rental fees. Every little bit counts!
