Event Description

Come explore FOUR established, fascinating,
and very different communities from across the country,
presented in Geopf Kozeny’s latest video,
Visions of Utopia, PART TWO.

We’ll begin with the community that started it all… The Farm in Summertown, TN. Where thousands of hippies came together with the intent to change the world … and in many ways they have! Watch the pioneering achievements that they have accomplished and hear from its members about the social dynamics and compassionate outreach that have kept this community thriving for decades.

Ganas, an urban community in Staten Island, NY, will share their concepts and results of a 30 year community building experiment, called Feedback Learning. Hear how they created an inclusive and loving family by learning to give and receive feedback from one another, producing a strong trust between members and facilitating great strides in self development.

Miccosukee Land Cooperative, is a hybrid community in Tallahassee, FL with 344 acres of land where each person owns their own property of 1-4 acres. For those of you not quite ready to made the big leap into “full-on” community, but want to experience some of the many benefits community can provide, you’ll definitely want to hear about this creative alternative.

Lastly, we will hear from N. Street Co-housing, in Davis, CA. This is also a hybrid group, not quite like the co-housing model many of us are familiar with. The N. Street community began by getting a group of people together and buying pre-existing, adjoining, houses within a city neighborhood. Hear their fascinating story of how this community continues to grow every year as their neighbors request to join their community, take down their fences, and be a part of N. Street Cohousing. (Just like in the old days!)

If you’ve been exploring or even thinking about the topic of community, you won’t want to miss hearing about these four intentional communities in part two of “Vision of Utopia.”

3:15 pm - Newcomers are invited to a short introduction to Intentional Communities and ACN (Asheville Communities Network).

4:00 pm – Video Presentation

5:30 pm - Potluck dinner and sharing
